Mark McGrath Dies

Victory Assembly of God
----------------------------------------------------------------------
** NATIONAL YOUTH MINISTRIES' MARK MCGRATH DIES

The Assemblies of God national headquarters and the national Youth
Ministries office received shocking news Sunday morning as word
that Mark McGrath, the global ministries director for the national
Youth Ministries office, passed away Saturday evening. McGrath was
47 years old.

McGrath had been ministering at the Louisiana District youth camp
during the past week, had traveled to San Diego Friday for an AIM
commissioning service and had just returned on Saturday. When he
arrived home on Saturday evening, he held a counseling session,
then explaining that he was not feeling well, he went to bed.
Later that evening, he passed away from an apparent heart attack.

Before leading the Arizona district as the district youth director
(DYD) for 7 years (1993 - 1999), McGrath had worked with the youth
in his home church, Victory Assembly in Tucson, Arizona. In 2000,
he accepted a position at the A/G national Youth Ministries office
in Springfield, Missouri. At the national office, he was known for
his sense of humor, optimism and dedication to Christ.

"Mark was a man of God whose zest for life was revealed through a
busy schedule that included pulpit ministry and many missions
trips as well as administrative responsibility," says Tom Greene,
national director for Youth Ministries. "However, his priority was
his wife and sons. Along with his commitment as a husband and
father, many across the nation were made to feel he was their
best friend."

According to colleagues, McGrath's passing was completely
unexpected as prior to this, he appeared to be in good health.
McGrath leaves behind his wife Donae and four children: Dylan, 17;
Griffin, 15; Conner, 12; and Sawyer, 8.

Alex McGregor, the Sun City missions director, was at the AIM
commissioning service on Friday and drove Mark to the airport
Saturday morning. He says McGrath's final message was impacting.
"In his last service," McGregor wrote, "he spoke on the feeding of
the 5,000 and told us that we need to be ready to give what we
have to see God do His work."

"Mark's entire ministry was dedicated to students and their vision
to touch the world with the gospel," Greene says. "His personal
investment in thousands of young people will reap a great harvest
until Jesus comes.

"In national youth ministries, we feel we have lost more than a
Christian brother," Greene adds. "He was and is our brother."

McGrath's funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at
James River Assembly in Ozark, Missouri, with burial in
Springfield. Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the
service on Wednesday.

A memorial service is also being planned at Victory Assembly in
Tucson. Once finalized, the time and date will be posted on the
church's Web site at .

Hello from London

Hello everyone.
Wow, I can't believe that I've finally arrived to London. God is truly awesome, and has blessed me continually. First of all, my flight was great. I ended up taking a taxi to my flat (apartment), and it ended up costing £77, which is like $160 American. Yeah, the £ is = to 2 American dollars, so its kinda expensive here. Anyway, my flat is super nice, and I have 3 other flatmates who are nice as well. Everything is pretty different here, but its super pretty, and I am having a great time! The city is beautiful here. I havent had time to site see yet due to many meetings and interviews, but we'll start on Thursday. I met with the company that I'm interning with which is The London Chamber of Commerce! Yeah, just havning the opportunity to intern there is amazing. The lady who met with me was really nice, and she informed me of what I'll be assisting with. My job description is as follows: Working on the events team, helping with databases and VIP guest lists, assiting and attending a number of very high profile events, and researching venues and themes for these events!!! Wow, I'm so excited, and very grateful for this opportunity. Thank you all so much for your prayres, support, and for being such incredible friends in my life. I miss you all so very much, and I will continue to keep in touch, and please do the same as well.
I am also including my telephone number if any of you want to call sometime. The number is 011-207-693-5371. Thank you all for being such awesome friends. Please keep me in your prayers.
Love you all so very much

Houston Crime Prevention Summit

Mayor Bill White & District H Councilmember Adrian Garcia
Mayor White and Police Chief Hurtt welcomed nearly 50 community leaders on Saturday morning, June 12, 2004. We spent half the day sharing our desire for priorities on funding in Houston since there will be major impacts with reduced city funding. Please be praying for our city leaders to rule with mercy. One of my closing contributions was to let our Police Chief Hurtt know that there is a Faith-Based Community which desires to support righteousness in the Nation's 4th largest city!

Twilight at the White House

Max outside the front gates of the White House
During the 2004 Faith Based and Community Initiative I went walking around the Nation's monuments and sights. The White House looked deceptively peaceful this evening, belying the turmoil that goes on in our nation as we strive to be part of a peaceful resolution and transfer of power in a country on the other side of the globe. Our President starts every day with a time of prayer and devotion. Would you covenant with the Lord to pray for our leaders as we agree with Jeremiah 29:7 to pray for the Peace of our City.

Leaving Union Station to visit Senators and Congressional offices
While in D.C. we visited several Congressmen on Capitol Hill. We visited California and Texas Congressmen's offices to prepare for the future programs which will be implemented in the next few years through faith-based and communities programs.

GLAD Concilio 2004

Gulf Latin American District in Corpus Christi, June 8-11, 2004
The 2004 District Council was monumental in deciding whether the District would expand to 2 or 3 seperate areas. Their was no majority vote to seperate the district, so everything continues as it was before.
Rev. Jesse Miranda & Rev. Don George were special speakers which inspired our Pastors and ministers in the work that lies ahead. The upcoming 2005 General Council will be in Denver CO, and will actually be a World Council gathering in the first week of August 2005.

The Lincoln Memorial presents a striking image both in the daylight or the nighttime.
Wandering through the National Mall at night, the Lincoln Memorial was as inspiring this night as it was the first time I saw it in 2000.
